In John’s vision in Revelation 5, Jesus is depicted as both the Lion of the tribe of Judah but also as a Lamb that had been slain. How can the power and majesty of a Lion dwell in the same body as the gentle meekness of a Lamb led to the slaughter? The answer is that Christ deferred the power of his divinity as the Lion and volunatrily chose to come and give up his life as the Lamb for the people he loved and chose before the world began.
