Christ desires fellowship with his bride, with the object of his love. Here in Song of Solomon, we see that Christ is outside the door of the bride, seeing to come in and fellowship with his beloved. Instead the bride (the church) is selfish, lazy, and complacent and doesn’t open the door to invite the Lord in. When she does get around to opening the door, the husband has withdrawn himself. It’s vitally important to shake off any slumbering spirit of complacency or lukewarmness we might have in our life and open the door of fellowship to Christ. He has promised that any man that opens that door, he will come in and sup with him and he with Christ.
