In Jacob’s life, his dream at what became Bethel – the house of God – was a turning point in his life. Jacob saw the ladder, depicting Jesus Christ, as the only connection point and entranceway into heaven. Jacob’s repsonse to his revelation gives us profound instruction for how we as well should respond to the knowledge and truth of Christ as the only means of salvaton. Jacob was compelled to sacrifice and worship; he was compelled to make a personal commitment of devotion to the Lord; and he was moved to obligated a portion of his goods back to the Lord in worship and gratitude.
